Bismihi Ta'ala

From the Wisdom of Hazrat Ali (RA):

"Everything has a misfortune:

The misfortune of knowledge is forgetfulness;

The misfortune of worship is ostentation;

The misfortune of intelligence is conceit;

the misfortune of nobility is pride;

the misfortune of wittiness is arrogance;

the misfortune of generosity is extravagance;

the misfortune of modesty is weakness;

the misfortune of forbearance is humiliation;

the misfortune of suffering is obscenity."

Advice of Imam Sufyaan Thauree (Rahmatullahi 'Alayh)

Bismihi Ta'ala

"When you seek out advice, let the people you go to for advice, be people of piety - people who fear Allah Ta'ala and who are trustworthy."

"Love people in proportion to the (good) deeds they perform. Become humble and flexible when you are invited to perform a good deed, and become rigid and defiant when you are invited to commit a sin."

"If, in a gentle manner, you are able to direct others to do good deeds, then do so. If your advice is accepted, praise Allah Ta'ala. But if your advice is rejected, then focus on yourself, because rectifying yourself is an endeavour that should keep you very busy."
